Smoked Ham in the Crockpot

I need help!

I have a 7+ lb smoked ham (shank portion if it matters) in my fridge that I'd like to cook on Sunday. I need to slow cook it, and I'd love to use my crock pot but a lot of the reviews/recipes are saying that would completely dry it out. Obviously not my desired result!

Does anyone have any tips? Can I cook it in the crock pot or do I need to do it in the oven? If I cook it according to package directions it will only take 2-ish hours, and that is too long to wait for dinner after church, but too short to put it in before we leave for church.

Any tips or recipes?
