Wool Reknit?

So my grandma knit these for DS it was super nice, but none of them really fit nor were they really what I wanted style wise. And I think I started wool with him too late he seemes to complain when I put it on him. I am not "fluent" in wool so I am not really sure what type of wool it is I am sure it just came from a big box craft store. What I am wondering is can someone reknit them into something else for new baby? or is that out of the question and they are ruined?

Re: Wool Reknit?

I'm not a knitter, but I've "Pulled Out" crochet before and turned it into something else. You might want to find out whether or not it's actually wool. A lot of the yarn you get at the store is Acrylic, and while that works ok, it's doesn't have the same properties as wool.

They can be frogged (un-knit or unraveled) but it will probably be a pain. I used to unravel thrift store sweaters and use the yarn, but it was time consuming

Re: Wool Reknit?

The bottom 3 look like Patons SWS to me. I've unraveled knits plenty of times in the past, and handknits aren't bad to unravel. The yarn will be kinky and if it's been lanolized I'm not sure how great it'd be to knit with (I haven't knit with strongly lanolized wool). It might be more efficient to sell them off and purchase new yarn from a LYS (local yarn store) to have something new knit up. But, yes, it can be done.

Re: Wool Reknit?

You could, but for the price of paying someone to frog it,you could get the exact same yarn and start from scratch

Re: Wool Reknit?

I recognized several of Paton's colorways. There wool is really pretty cheap (like $5 a skein). Like the others have said, you COULD pull it all out, but there will probably be twisted threads and knots to work through. Especially if they've been used at all! For the price of the yarn, I would just put them on FSOT and use that money to buy new wool!
