Re: Cheap wedding gifts!

ive always done really well with shopping around for nice picture frames on clearance. When my cousin got married, I was super broke. i found 2 really nice wedding themed frames for $4 each on clearance at target and she loved them

You could also look for some nice looking inexpensive towels, just a few. Someone else on here the other day suggested to go that and wrap them with a pretty ribbon... perhaps the same color as their wedding color.

I wouldn't do picture frames, personally. We received dozens of frames and photo albums and wound up donating most of them.

When I got married, I appreciated practical stuff over decorative stuff.

Cute kitchen towels from Marshalls/TJ Maxx + your favorite recipe(s) written on index cards. That's useful and personal.

Re: Cheap wedding gifts!

My absolute favorite wedding gift was a very practical one. It was a laundry basket filled with household goodies... household cleaners, soaps, shampoos, toothbrushes, etc. The gift givers I found out later were big couponers, so I am pretty sure that they didn't spend much on my gift at all. Still, it saved me from buying a lot of needed things for a while. I am just getting started into couponing, and I already have a little box of extras that if I need a homewarming/newlywed gift, I can use.

Another good gift was a colander with a dish towel, pasta utensil, bag of noodles, tomato sauce, and a handwritten recipe card of the family's favorite spaghetti sauce.

Re: Cheap wedding gifts!

When I was a broke student I started giving a "date night" for wedding gifts - and it was so well received I kept on doing it! Two tickets to the cheap theater and coupon for a popcorn combo. It costs around $20.

I always do $30-50 for weddings unless I am really close with the person and have the extra to afford more but with couponing go off of what you want to spend full retail price so if retail was $50 and you paid $25/30 then great! I think the household items no one likes/wants to buy are a great idea especially if you coupon! You could even print a favorite recipe and give them main ingredients for it (obviously minus anything perishable) including kitchen items needed to make it. My granny gave us a biscuit making kit. It was one of our favorite gifts because it was so personal.

Thank you all! Do you think things like toilet paper, razors, toothbrushes are inappropriate? Thx!

"Date night" baskets!

Movie night:
Two dvd's from the $5 section at target/Walmart
Two or three of those boxes of candy ($1 each)
Box of microwave popcorn ($3)
Fleece blanket for couch cuddling

Italian dinner:
Cheap chianti
Box of spaghetti
Crunchy breadsticks
Jar of sauce
Red checker tablecloth candle for romance

Bowling night:
Gift certificate for shoes/lane
Wacky socks
Flask (hehe)

Depending on how well you know the couple, personalize it.
