Re: So if you ever thought you were pg with twins? Were you right?
I thought twins last time with Israel. I was totally convinced. I was picking up what I thought was two hb's on the doppler (my friend explained it to me though, I was getting an echo). I was measuring like 5 weeks ahead from 18 weeks on and I measured 1 week behind with my first two. I was more nauseous in the beginning, I never have had m/s, but the first few weeks were tough.
This time I'm trying not to go crazy. I'm 5w4d and just trying to keep my cool until our u/s around 20ish weeks. I don't want to feel crazy like last time. Though I've considered getting an earlier u/s too because I don't trust my suspicions now.

Re: So if you ever thought you were pg with twins? Were you right?

Re: So if you ever thought you were pg with twins? Were you right?
I'd say if you are thinking about twins and dont want to pay for an ultrasound...
If you are measuring bigger, gaining weight faster than "normal". See if the midwife can check with the doppler really well to see if she can find 2. If there is any question about MAYBE there are 2 then go get an ultrasound....no need to pay extra money if you dont need to right? |

Re: So if you ever thought you were pg with twins? Were you right?
Yep, right around the time I got my BFP I had "I wonder if it's twins" thoughts. Then the nausea started. I had my first u/s at 6w4d that confirmed two beans!

Re: So if you ever thought you were pg with twins? Were you right?
um, yes. I will be kind of surprised if there is not another one in there. This pregnancy is 1 mil percent different than the boys (of course, it could be a girl) and as of 32 wks (I am 35), I was measuring 6 wks ahead. I was so sick for the 1st 21 wks....I could go on and on. I miscarried twins when I was 18, so it is possible. I DID have an u/s at 8 wks to confirm pregnancy (had to for medicaid) and she only saw one....but it was very low frequency (couldn't even hear the heatbeat on it) so I don't know how accurate it was if one was hiding? I know it's not likely, but I have had a feeling and my DH's niece always says she thinks we are having twins and she lives across the country and we have never mentioned it to her! So, in a few wks, I will let you know if I was right. Oh and we have only used doppler a few times, I don't like using that at all. And if I knew it was twins for sure, that doesn't change my plan for a homebirth at all!

Re: So if you ever thought you were pg with twins? Were you right?
I thought for sure W DS that there were twins in there, then at my 9 wk OB apt he checked and there was clearly only one. my sister called at that moment to tell me they were having twins. her apt was at the same time as mine and her twins are 4 days younger!
![]() I feel like i am having twins this time around and everyone around me thinks so as well. at our 9 wk check up the Dr said she thought she saw another bean in there but wasnt sure because of the dinky little machine she was using. so i have been REALLY thinking there is 2! i have no clue when ill find out for sure. i am HUGE already though, about what i looked like at 5 mos w DD and DS and i am 13 weeks. my mom and sister (both have twins) thinks i am pg w 2. so we will see. We are planning a homebirth this time and one would be easier! i am trying to convince myself its one but i have that feeling! |

Re: So if you ever thought you were pg with twins? Were you right?
When I accidentally got pregnant when I was 16, twins was NEVER a thought in my head. I did not get an 8wk scan, I didn't have my first ultrasound until 23wks and then.. BAM. Two babies. I was SPEECHLESS. I told the ultrasound tech that I was going to die.

Re: So if you ever thought you were pg with twins? Were you right?
The US tech didnt say anything.. But they got the Dr. The Dr came in ad said Conngrats you are having twins.. i said "No, I am not! You are kidding me. Stop playing jokes on me." And then they showed me 2 heads.. I nearly fell off the silly bed. I cried for 3 days. Twins was never a thought in my mind. Doesnt run in the family (frat twins). PLUS, my SIL was PG with twins at that time. it took months for me to realize there was really 2.
