Help me with heartburn please!

Gah, I'm 22 weeks and the heartburn has started. I don't remember what I did last time to help relieve it. Any tips?

I used raw almonds, just 5 at a time. Worked for me mostly. At the end my MW recommended gaviscon (spelling?) But I never got round to buying it! Hope this works for you!!

I have raw almonds! I'll go eat some right now. I just tried drinking some milk, but the relief was momentary.

tums is ok to take (although i know some on here say no, but the doctors say ok)

try avoiding soda, chocolate, spicier foods, and anything else you find triggers it more then others.

Re: Help me with heartburn please!

I had horrible heartburn with my forst two pg's and ended up taking Protronix with my second. It worked perfectly. This time I've been lucky enough to just have mild reflux so far. Man.... the HB I had with DS was horrific though. Couldn't sleep at times b/c of it. Had to try and sleep sitting up. It was aweful. Wish I had known about Protronix with him. This time I have a box of Previcid OTC ready and waiting. It's basically the same thing as Protronix but OTC and cheaper. None of the natural remidies worked for me with my first two. I have heard that apple cider vinigar (like a T or two) helps a lot.

Re: Help me with heartburn please!

I tried apple cider vinegar and YMMV, but for me it was easily one of the most painful things I've ever done to myself. I still shudder when I think about it, lol.

I use a bit of baking soda in water. Works alright, obviously if your BP is on the higher side it's not a good remedy to use. At this point I've moved on to Zantac and if this doesn't get it under control I'll be going on Nexium. I hate to take meds while preggers but I have permanent damage from my last pregnancy and my body can't afford to sustain much more.

Re: Help me with heartburn please!

I lived on Tums my first pregnancy when no home remedies could be found.

This one, I've pretty well done the same, but I go back to the dr Monday and I'm going to ask about Prevacid or something.
