Love the improvising when you run out of diaps! BTDT!
Another thing that works great is an old receiving blanket. You can put a folded preemie prefold first and then seal it up with a receiving blanket. You can even wing it so that you have long wings to tie and avoid needing pins or snappi. I have to find my pictures from that day! Lol

I've done the receiving blanket diaper too! Wrapped one of my DS's old wool sweaters over top and hoped for the best! It worked but it wasn't pretty!

Re: really? no clean diapers? ugh...

receiving blankets are found pretty commonly on my dd's bottom because I have a TON and they are all pretty prints- I use them like I would a flat- and they work pretty well for around the house diapers. My mom has even put my niece in a dish towel with regular safety pins when my sil forgets to bring diapers- so it's pretty much what you have- you can make it work.

Seeing as I have five dozen unbleached flats for my LO (and another five dozen bleached flats that are out of commission as diapers because I wanted unbleached for my LO ), if I ever run out of clean diapers I need a huge

Like the PPs said, anything absorbant (kitchen towels, cotton shirts, flannel blankets etc.) can be a diaper in a pinch!

Next time, try this!

I've done this once, when we were out and about and I had forgotten the diaper bag, but we had an extra shirt in the trunk.

Hmmm... I think you should use this as a reason to buy more diapers. Who wants to be a slave to laundry??
