What time is bedtime??

Soooo.. Dh thinks i put the kids to bed too early. I think i put them down late.

I want to know what you do.

I need to add. My kids are almost 3. They go to bed at 8pm every night.. on the nose. My almost 7 yr old goes to bed at 8:30ish, depending on the night.

Bath at 730-745ish, bedtime is usually 8pm. DD is 17 months old.

What time are you putting them down at?

8pm for both right now (7 & 2) but we are going to let ds (7) stay up later after school gets out...it just seems wrong to send him to bed when it's still daylight and there are neighborhood kids playing outside his window...

ETA- we do let ds read until 8:30

I put the kids down at 7pm. My 3 year old doesn't always go right to sleep, but an early-ish bedtime works for us and allows me to spend time with DH, pick up or just veg.

Bedtime depends on the kids' age, how much sleep they need, and the family routine. Everyone here except me generally is in bed by 9 a.m. (DH included). We are not a strictly scheduled family so this can vary on what we are doing, what is going on the next day, etc. This will change this summer while the kids are out of school, I let them stay up much later than that when they don't have to go to school the next day.

DH doesn't get home until almost 6:30, if it's a bad traffic day it could be later. He leaves at 6:00am, so the kids don't see him in the morning. We usually have a late afternoon snack, eat with DH, play, bedtime clean-up (bodies and playroom), stories and then bed. We're usually reading stories by 8:30 or so. I *try* to have them by 8:00, but then I feel like they don't get to spend time with their Daddy - and since he only has 1 day off per week right now, Daddy-time during the week is important. My kids may wake up early (between 6 and 7) but DS1 and DD both take a 2-3 hour nap during the day.

ETA: I didn't answer the poll b/c one day they may be in bed by 8:00, but the next it may be 9:15...we don't have a set "bedtime."

My 16-month-old goes to bed at 7:15. My nearly 7-year-old goes to bed sometimes as early as 8:00, but usually 8:30. I try to let her stay up until 8:30 because that's when she's really ready to go to bed, but sometimes I'm just fried by that time, and put her down a little earlier (8ish) and just let her read or draw for the remaining half hour or so before turning her light out. She doesn't seem to mind.

My oldest is 9 and usually is in bed by 8:30 on school nights. However, he is allowed to read, usually until 9:30.

My middle who is almost 7 is also in bed around 8:30. He shares a room with big brother, so the light is on in there. He usually reads for a little bit and falls asleep by 9:00.

My daughter is 5 and she is in bed between 8 and 8:30 with lights out right when she goes to bed.

We aren't as strict on the weekends or in the summer.
