My sister comes over with her 1 year old, trashes our playroom, then proceeds to say, "Had fun trashing your house." And leaves...drives me nuts!

Always. Even if they say NO, don't bother. I make my children pick up at least a few. Its a precedent. They need to respect other peoples homes.

Yes. If my kids make a mess, no matter where they are, they are expected to clean it up. This goes for our house, friends' houses, school, church nursery, etc. I was very proud of my son when I read his evaluation (by the school district for his transition to Kindergarten) b/c it said that he did more than his fair share of cleaning up when the time came in his nursery school class and that he did so happily.

Always, we have some friends that when we pick up the toys the their child will take everything mine just picked up and throw it on the floor. In that case I don't have my kids repick it up. That gets on my nerves very bad. I had neighbors who I had to ban from my house because they would literally destroy the rooms (sheets would be taken off beds and pictures off walls). Then my DD would cry because it upset her, I told them not to come back their parents never once said sorry or offered to help.
