Re: What could be wrong?!?!

We refuse to go on base here. REFUSE. That is why we cannot easily switch doctors. Plus, we live 20 minutes from base.
She has been tested for dairy, and we cut it out for 2 weeks and, if anything, she only got worse. My money is on gluten. We have had leftover birthday cake almost everyday this week, and her eczema is flourishing.
If this allergy testing comes back negative (I called the doctor this morning to test for gluten, tomatoes and strawberries), I will be going to see a doctor of homeopathic medicine. She is a close friend of my mom and I often use her as a reference to my doctor, ie: "I know a doctor of homeopathic medicine and she says that steroids only suppress the eczema and cause chronic conditions like asthma." They never argue when I throw her name around. lol.

Re: What could be wrong?!?!

Sounds like a dairy allergy. Have you also looked into a gluten allergy?? In regards to the ped, they were NO help to me in regards to my DD's eczema or food sensitivies. My niece also has food allergies and was basically disregarded by her ped. My sister finally took her to a natropath and immediately discovered her food allergies. I would start there.

And FYI to help with the itchy eczema, pure calendula ointment has been the ONLY thing that helped it. And we've tried everything!!!

We also give my DD hempmilk over any other milk. It is the healthiest milk! NOT cheap, but my DD just drinks less. I'd say about 12oz a day max.

HTH!

Could be her body adjusting. Honestly it can't hurt to try again. As much as the dairy industry doesn't want to believe it, she doesn't need dairy. There are so many other options. I forgot to add coconut milk to my other post as well. I know for a fact they are the two healthiest milks. (I've compared every single milk label. )

Also, do you use spices?? Some spices trigger symptoms. My friends daughter can't have garlic or onions without getting ill.

Re: What could be wrong?!?!

It is also possible she's allergic to wheat, but not gluten. They aren't the same thing.

Sounds like a wheat allergy to me...I'd get her tested for that.

Re: What could be wrong?!?!

We have tested her for dairy, she is not allergic. The test was negative.

I called the doctor yesterday for a allergist referral. The receptionist who is horribly rude always wanted me to give her a list of providers on our insurance to give to the doctor. I was like SERIOUSLY?! DO YOUR JOB! So I called back today and just asked them to redo the allergy test and test for gluten, strawberries and tomatoes. What do you know, they called me back with an allergist referral! lol. So we will try to get in there ASAP and go from there.

Just for safe keeping, she is NOT allergic to dairy. We have had her tested.

Re: What could be wrong?!?!

Oh and after research, her eczema does look like some pictures of dermatitis herpaformitis (sp?) so I am just really thinking gluten. I teared up about it a couple times today. It is going to be SO hard! But what is best for her is what I will do, of course.

I also thought dairy allergy. Sounds like my daughter. Why didn't they do a skin test? It sounds like they were testing for the type of allergens that cause rhinitis? I'm so confused!

Anyway, my daughter gets eczema from dairy, and she also always had loose stools (but she is bf still so it could also be that... but i suspect the allergy). Wheat or fish could be a possibility? I would try cutting out the wheat first and see what happens, it could take a few weeks to see an improvement. I know it works that way for my daughter.

Re: What could be wrong?!?!

It could still be dairy, even if it's not an allergy. My youngest has a rather severe dairy sensitivity, but all the allergy testing came back negative.

If the allergy test doesn't turn anything up, find a good naturopath and go that route.

Re: What could be wrong?!?!

Skin test was not an option for me. I don't want to put my 2 year old through that. Her skin is already irritated enough. We have cut out dairy before, and it didnt help. We cut out cheese, milk, cream of soups, everything with ANY dairy in it. She didn't improve at all.

I need to call the allergy specialist today, and get in ASAP! I don't know how much more of the diapers and messes I can handle or having to watch my baby itching constantly!
