NEW TO GARDENING AND CANNING

OK, so I've always been afraid of gardening because it would seeem I have a black thumb. Ironically I married a farmer from ND, so this year we are growing a garden (fingers crossed - I don't kill everything) So I would really like to start canning.
I would love some suggestions for canning equpiment to look for and some recipes. (I'm going for CHEAP and EASY)

Re: NEW TO GARDENING AND CANNING

Check craigslist for jars. We have a local radio station here that does a 'swap shop' where you can call in to look for or sell items. They have canning equipment on there a lot or you could call in and say you're looking. Check garage and estate sales and auctions as well. Basically, you'll need a large pot for processing your jars, there are other helpful items as well. I have an extra canning book if you're interested pm me - there are equipment lists and recipies and tips there. If you don't get my book, get a book, they are in-valuable for info!
