Boys 5> with mohawks

my little guy (2.5) is sweating like crazy and is going through the woods with DH everyday and he needs a new 'do.
i want to mohawk it (well, he does and i think it is cute)
anyone else have boys 5 and younger that do this? I want to know what it looks like on a younger kid before i do it (everyone i've seen is over 10)

pics appreciated.

Re: Boys 5> with mohawks

Sorry I don't have pics, but we have done that before. I think it is an adorable summer cut for lil boys. If you don't like it, just buzz the whole thing. It grows out quick. I'll probably do this for all the boys and then switch it to a high and tight right before school starts. Then we'll let it grow out as it gets cooler.

ETA: I am realizing I am thinking of a faux hawk where the hair doesn't go all the way to the neck. I prefer that look.

I think it's cute. I never did it with my son but I saw a little boy have a mohawk at a wedding we went to. He was 2. Adorable!

Re: Boys 5> with mohawks

I'm not going to lie, and I'm going to say this as kindly as possible, but I really do not think mohawks are flattering on children at all. Wouldn't just a short haircut will do? If you leave it long on top, not sure that'll be much better for going through the woods, but if you cut it nice and short, it'd be easy to groom and make sure there aren't any ticks on him afterwards.

I reeeeeally dislike it. I love the faux-hawk though! My son gets super hot too, so we shave his really short and then faux-hawk his in the summer. Works really well for him. `

We don't vaccinate, we kept our sons intact, we use cloth diapers, we co-sleep, we extended RF, we breastfeed, but we watch too much tv and I totally dig plastic! Everyone has their issues, lol.

Re: Boys 5> with mohawks

Tharen wore his hair in a mohawk from around 2.5 to about 4. He is now just doing a general short cut like dh's.

this is the day it was done for the first time, up till then he had never had a hair cut.

here he is at three just after a hair cut. I clipped the sides down super short but left the middle long. He wasn't wearing it up that day.

same time but actually awake

here is what he looks like fully spiked.

He loved his mohawk. I'm not sure why he decided to change his style. I'm hoping he will go back to it. Not that I mind his present style, I just thought the mohawk suited him better.

this is his style now though I've given him a haircut since then so it is shorter but same style.

Re: Boys 5> with mohawks

I think baby mohawks are adorable. Our friend and his 2 sons 2 and 4 just got them for the summer. Theirs are the same style as that guy on Glees. (I don't know his name, haven't watched enough but I'm sure you could google.) Mind you though... I'm the kind of person that if my daughters come home at 10 or 11 wanting green or pink hair I'll be dying it for them....
