One month old with constipation
She is exclusively breastfed, but mom had surgery (posting this for a friend). She had 1 ounce of formula mixed with a couple ounces of breastmilk. She has been constipated since last Tuesday and has had one poopy diaper since. That was on Friday. Any suggestions?!

Re: One month old with constipation
A breastfed baby rarely gets constipated but their patterns DO change. It is not uncommon for them to go 10 days. Continue to nurse, on demand and nature will kick it

Great! Thanks mama! I haven't had this issue with any of my kids, so I didn't know what to tell her!

Re: One month old with constipation
We were told not to mix formula and breastmilk - our son's birthmom was pumping when we were in her state and my son would not take it any way we tried so we mixed it and he got the runs and we got a fun ER visit (big waste as they didn't have a clue and he was ok). But, we called a friend who was a ped. nurse and she said one or the other, not mixed - I'd give her full breastmilk and supplement with the formula straight. Try switching to a gentle formula too - the advanced and the stronger formulas can be tuff to digest.
