Young kids in glasses *update w/ pics*

We were just at the opthamologist and our 3 year old needs glasses. Can we seem some other pics of young kiddos in glasses. I think it would make dh and ds feel much better about the whole thing. Thanks!

He got his glasses the other day. They ordered the wrong color so, his slate blue ones will be in in a few weeks. These are a bit too bright for my taste. LOL!

Re: Young kids in glasses

Not quite as young as you were looking for but here is Kearnan in his first pair of glasses

He had just turned 7 at the time (though he is the size of a 5yr old) He did wind up breaking that first pair. They were the type that looped around the ear and he broke that connector taking them off and putting them on. He has a new pair and it has lasted far longer.

Here he is more recently in his new glasses.

When Kearnan had to get his glasses it really helped him seeing people he looked up to who had glasses. My oldest niece had glasses (she is in contact now), my MIL has glasses, and I started wearing my glasses again to encourage him. Really though it was the improvement in his school work and attitude that really kept him going.

Re: Young kids in glasses

I don't have any pictures readily available but my five year old wears them for reading. Glasses are so much cuter and stylish now. I would just let him pick them out.

I can't post pics yet, but my dd has been in glasses since 15 months. Around 3 is when I started letting her pick the color of her glasses and it really helped with her wanting her glasses. Also, I got her a doll and put glasses on it.

Re: Young kids in glasses

Our dd got glasses just before her 3rd birthday. She was always pretty good with them, usually when they got broke (and they will) it was because little brother jerked them off her face. They have so many styles and colors now, let him/her pick out the ones they like. Her older sister also had reading glasses for a little while (out grew them). My younger one took better care of her glasses because she really needed them to be able to see anything; whereas, her older sister only needed them to read. At first we got her one of those strings that attach to the glasses by the ears so that if they fell off or if she took them off they could just hang around her neck and not hit the ground. It helped her get used to them and then we took it off.

I don't have any pics, but my 14 y/o has worn glasses since she was 3. They are hard on them when they are little so don't feel like you have to spend tons on them because you will just be that much more upset when they break! Find either an reasonable place to buy them or a place with a great warranty. We personally have always loved Costco because they are so reasonably priced and they will adjust them for free anytime. Since we go there a lot, it's convenient! When she was little, we had them readjusted about once a month because something was always loose or bent!

Here is my son at 18 months. He is still supposed to wear glasses but his sensory issues are terrible right now and we haven't been to successful with complying.
