I agree, you know you are overdoing it if you have mass quantities of poop! Make sure you are getting ground flax meal. You can't absorb the nutrients from the seed. Or you can grind it yourself in a coffee grinder. You can stir it into anything- oatmeal, applesauce, really whatever. There is not taste. I do notice it makes my baked goods much more dense though. You can also do flax seed oil which is pricey but good. DS1 has some bowel issues and I prefer the oil for him instead.

I haven't made these recently but will for summer vacation, Granola Bars, and add 1/4C flax meal. I don't even notice it. But you can add it to anything really... breads, muffins, pancakes, waffles, oatmeal...

Yes, pretty much anything! We've even added it to french toast, eggy bread, on top of cereal :-) I just sprinkle some on!

Re: Flax seed..

one of our faves is:

1 c. natural peanut butter
1/2 to 1.c honey, depending on preference
2 c. powdered milk

mix together to make a stiff dough and form small balls

roll in ground flax or wheat germ

yummy cold!

Yeap same here - it's so easy to throw in some flax seeds into about anything we're baking
