Reselling Freecycle items?

I feel so used... I gave away a play kitchen on Freecycle that had been given to me, and a few days later, it's posted for sale on Craigslist. Ugh.

I love giving things away, but it wasn't like I just wanted it out of my hair... I wanted it to go to someone who would appreciate it, not just use my generosity for their own gain. The same person has a dozen other similar kids items posted on Craigslist in one day alone, and posts more regularly, so I suppose it's kind of a home business. Something similar happened another time with items I had posted on Freecycle... one lady wanted every single nice thing I had up.

Is it just me? Or does this seem a little shady and unethical?

That seems very shady to me!
I'm sorry about it..
It really upsets me when people take advantage of others generosity.

it's definitely not cool...but unfortunately its the chance you take when you give something away.

My free cycle doesn't allow it and will ban a member if caught. Sorry maybe report it to your free cycle admin and see what they say.

Maybe it makes her money to be a SAHM. It isn't totally cool if they take lots and lots of stuff, but honestly once I give something away, just like a gift, it is the new owners right to do with it what they will. I don't like it either and would probably not let them have any more stuff, unless they were the only one who wanted it, but thats me. Sorry it bugs you, dont let it get you down.

I would have just thought the kitchen did not work out for them, not that they are trying to make a buck. I do not care what people do with the stuff I freecycle. I just want it gone from my house.

Unfortunately, people do this on the FFS section too. It happens. And while I personally find it objectionable, I guess once it's out of my hands it's up to them to do what they want with it.

My dad has a friend that drives around neighborhoods and picks up the free stuff that people put out on the curb, and then sells it out of his garage every other weekend. I guess it's the same thing, in a way.

Re: Reselling Freecycle items?

If they want to take the time to sell it, I say go ahead!

If I want to know something is being used a specific way, I give it to someone that I know will use it that way.

If I can't bother leaving it in my house until I find the right person, and I can't bother taking photos and posting it for sale, then it's my fault I'm not making the sale ...

Freecycle has guidelines that members must follow, at least ours does. One of those guideline is not to resell stuff and report if we find someone who does it.
